The birth and differentiation of consciousness through sandplay therapy of a five years old boy who had to separate from his own mother
Sim Hee-Og

Abstract
This study showed a case of sandplay therapy of a 5 years old boy who had to separate from his own mother. Forgetting his own mother is inscrutable for the little boy. The client had experiences of physical and emotional abuse from his mother. When the client came to his grandmother after divorce, he was emotionally unstable and had a fear of abandonment and negative feelings toward his father. There were 35 sandtrays. The client expressed his inner confusion by putting the half of railroad in his first sandtray. Since in the early parts of his sandplay, flood, natural disaster and volcanic eruption appeared, the myth of flood for the birth of consciousness was applied to examine the process of sandtrays. He expressed that sand prevented cars which were himself from running and that he wanted to get rid of the whole sand in the sandbox. In the middle of sandplay therapy he let his mother go from his mind. His mind was becoming clean by washing away his disorder and wounds by water and sand. Through purification new consciousness appeared. In sandtrays roads were made for running cars. He also achieved differentiation from his mother owing to the self-healing of the unconscious.
